Sciatica usually affects one side of the lower body and is made worse by coughing or a bowel movement at night. There are two types of sciatica, one is primordial sciatica, and the other is secondary sciatica. Primordial sciatica results from lesion of ischiatitis. Secondary sciatica is commonly caused by lumbar disc herniation, lumbar vertebrae, soft tissue injury of the lower back and buttock, and lesions inside the pelvic cavity and canalis spinalis. Besides avoiding catching a cold, patients should do exercises that target the muscles of the lower back and legs, from which they can benefit a lot.

First, swing the leg to the left and right alternately. Stand straight with hands on the wall, and then swing the leg to the left and right alternately. Ensure that the foot would not touch the floor when swinging.

Third, exercise of bicycle riding. Keep the lying position while performing leg-pedaling like bicycle riding. The pedaling range could be gradually extended during the exercise.
